Monica Sklar

The role of the Vice President for Education and Programs is to coordinate and/or supervise non-national-symposia educational opportunities, including the Conversations on Dress webinar series and Regional educational programs.


Dr. Monica Sklar is an Assistant Professor of Fashion History & Merchandising at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. She obtained her PhD in Design-Apparel Studies from the University of Minnesota. Her research interests span various areas, including subcultures, punk fashion, and digital archiving of underserved collections. Dr. Sklar has taught college-level courses in dress and retailing, and she has published extensively on the subject of punk fashion. She also manages the Historic Clothing & Textiles Collection at UGA. Her work combines socio-cultural and historical analysis with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century design and merchandising.
