2024 CSA Northeastern Region Travel Grants for National Symposium

  Five grants available up to $500.00 each


Preference in order is given to:

  • Students and Emerging Professionals Members accepted to present at CSA National Symposium
  • Students and Emerging Professionals Members attending CSA National Symposium
  • Standard/Sustaining Members Accepted to present at CSA National Symposium
  •  Standard/Sustaining Members attending CSA National Symposium


Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: 

  • Must be a current student, emerging professional or standard/sustaining member of the Costume Society of America
  • Must be attending this year’s National Symposium


Application Procedure

The complete application should be uploaded as one (1) pdf document under 100MB via an online submission form (see button below) and includes the following in listed order:

  • A cover page including contact information
  • Grant Proposal
  • Student Applicant- career goals, major, date of graduation, and name of college or university
  • Emerging Professional Applicant-career goals, current job or institution association, job title
  • Member Standard /Sustaining Applicant- career area, current job or institution association, job title
  • What you hope to gain from attending the CSA National Symposium
  • Copy of the abstract submitted and accepted to the National Symposium (if applicable)


Grant Schedule and Terms

  • The Application Deadline is April 29, 2024
  • The committee will make the final selection and send notifications by May 10, 2024
  • Recipients are expected to attend the symposium.
  • Recipients must publicly acknowledge CSA in all lectures, publications, publicity pertaining to the grant.
  • If a Student Presenter receives an Adele Filene Travel Grant they will not be eligible for this grant.
  • Reimbursement of up to $500 of expenses (travel, hotel, and registration) to attend the symposium will be paid upon completion of travel and submission of an expense report and receipts.

Subsidized Memberships for Students And Emerging Professional Members


In acknowledgment of the current challenges and ongoing barriers that prevent students and young professionals from pursuing careers in costume-related fields, the Northeastern region will be sponsoring fully subsidized memberships for students and emerging professional members.

 

Current students and recent graduates based in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, or Quebec qualify for fully subsidized membership in CSA!

 

Access digital content, network with other professionals and enthusiasts, receive discounts on national conferences and local events, become eligible for grants, receive a free copy of CSA's journal Dress, and more with your CSA membership!
