Paige Tomfohrde (she/her) is a PhD student, researcher and Dean’s Scholar at Cornell University. She is a diasporic settler of color living on the ancestral homelands of the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' people. She is pursuing an PhD in Apparel Design. Her research interests include Environmental Justice, Intersectionality, and Sustainability. Recent research focuses on barriers to sustainable purchase behavior for racial minorities, the relationship between intersectionally marginalized individuals and sustainable fashion, and the value of racially marginalized voices in creative ideation for sustainability. She received undergraduate degrees from the Fashion Institute of Technology (A.A.S. Fashion Design) and Purdue University (B.S. Apparel Design and Technology) and a graduate degree from the University of Minnesota (MA). She has over seven years of design industry experience focused in textile surface design and trend research. After completing her PhD., Paige intends to become a professor focused on using decolonizing and intersectional pedagogies to incorporate an environmental justice lens to fashion and cultural education.
