Midwestern Regional Awards and Scholarships
Otto Thieme Memorial Internship
The Otto Thieme Memorial Internship provides an award every two years for a senior or graduate student member of the CSA Midwest Region to gain museum experience in the field of costume through a hands-on curatorial experience. Applications for the next award will be sent to members and be available on the Midwest Region website in January of 2018. The winning applicant will receive a $2000 stipend to work as an intern in the costume collection at a museum located in the Midwest Region
Applicants must be current CSA Midwest Region members to apply.
Otto Charles Thieme (1943-1996) taught courses in textile design and the history of textiles for the Related Art program in what is now the School of Human Ecology, from 1972 to 1979 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He went on to become the Curator of Costume, Textiles, and Tribal Arts at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Mr. Thieme was an important and influential member of the Costume Society of America.

The Beth Dunlap Award
The Midwestern Region is now accepting nominations for The Beth Dunlap Award to be presented at the regional Fall Symposium in Cincinnati. The Beth Dunlap Award may be offered to a person who has made contributions worthy of the highest commendation and the achievements will have continued importance.
Qualifications for nomination should include: governance involvement, scholarly contribution, long term regional support and/or service as a mentor.
Beth Dunlap was one of the founding members of the Midwestern Region. A fashion illustrator and artist, she passed away in 2009.

Midwest Region Student Travel Award
Each year, CSA Midwest awards up to $500 of travel funding is available for Midwest Region Student Members to present at the Midwestern Region of The Costume Society of America Annual Meeting and Symposium.
Applicants must be CSA members and current students (no more than six months past graduation).
Interested student members should apply with a 100-word essay and estimate of expenses by late summer 2017 (dates will be updated ASAP). Recipients will be notified by early fall (dates will be updated ASAP). Awardees are selected by Regional Board Members and checks sent directly by Treasurer prior to the meeting. Award may be distributed among multiple student members.
Essay topic: “How I will contribute to CSA at the Midwest Regional Symposium.”
Preference will be given to students traveling from out-of-state.
